HIGHS
Broad range of powertrain choices, good road manners, solid chassis, value pricing. |
|
LOWS
Blah styling, vague steering feel, cheap-looking interior, moderate torque steer in Maxx SS. |
|
WHAT'S NEW
217-hp, 3.5-liter VVT V-6 replaces 201-hp, 3.5-liter as mid-grade engine. Side and curtain and airbags are standard. |
|
BEHIND THE WHEEL
Basic LS and LT versions are ho-hum, but extra torque and stiffer suspension of SS add a dash of entertainment. |

CAPSULE REVIEW
Chevy’s smallish mid-size sedan has a better-than-average chassis in a forgettable wrapper, but it’s saved from anonymity by its basic competence. The 2006 addition of the SS edition, with a 240-hp V-6 and a firm suspension, added a dollop of previously absent fun. |
